Green Schools Youth Garden Project Ribbon Cutting! 🌱

Posted Date: 10/22/26 (03:46 PM)

We are excited to invite our families and community members to celebrate our Green Schools Partnership in the Garrison Street Community Garden.

Join Keep Waco Beautiful, Rapoport Academy, and our wonderful community partners as we host an official Community Ribbon Cutting for the Green Schools Youth Garden Project. Funded by a generous $20,000 grant from Keep America Beautiful, this project is bringing hands-on environmental education, garden expansion, and entrepreneurship directly to our middle school students.

Come tour the garden, see what our middle schoolers have been growing this fall, and enjoy some light refreshments as we celebrate this community achievement together!

What Our Middle Schoolers Are Growing & Learning
Thanks to this funding, Rapoport Academy middle school students are learning from educators Chisa Brigham and Jonathan Bruce each week to dive deep into gardening. Equipped with specialized garden gear and tools, these students are learning everything from soil science and plant care to real-world business skills.

In fact, our middle schoolers are gearing up for a special 5-week market-preparation program where they are mastering pricing, branding, harvesting, and booth setup. You'll be able to see their hard work in action—and pick up some freshly harvested fall crops and herbs—at the Waco Downtown Farmers Market in late November, just in time for Thanksgiving!

We can't wait to see you and your family on Tuesday, October 27, at 10 a.m. to cut the ribbon and celebrate our young green thumbs!
