Service Above Self: Celebrating Youth Citizenship Nominee Skylar Hicks
We are proud to celebrate senior Skylar Hicks as Meyer High School's nominee for the 46th annual Youth Citizenship Awards! This week, Skylar was honored during a special ceremony at the Lee Lockwood Library and Museum, joining twenty-six of the most dedicated high school seniors in McLennan County. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Waco and the Waco Tribune-Herald, these awards recognize students who truly embody the Rotary motto: "Service Above Self."
Skylar was chosen not just for her academic success, but for her heart for the community. Her impressive resume of service and leadership includes serving as the Vice President of the National Honor Society, participating in the Youth Chorus of Central Texas, playing both volleyball and basketball, and giving back through volunteering at Vacation Bible School and various community efforts.
Skylar’s commitment to helping others is only just beginning. She plans to earn her Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certificate to work in nursing homes or physical therapy offices before pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy this fall. Congratulations to Skylar and her parents, Sharon Adams and Christopher Hicks, on this well-deserved recognition. We can’t wait to see the impact you continue to make in the world of healthcare and beyond!
