Rapoport Academy Selected as one of Lowe’s Hometowns Community Impact Projects

Lowe’s has announced that Rapoport Academy’s Meyer High School was awarded one of 100 community projects to be completed this year as part of Lowe’s Hometowns, the company’s largest-ever community impact program. Launched in 2022, Lowe’s Hometowns is a five-year, $100 million commitment from Lowe’s to rebuild and revitalize community spaces nationwide.

Rapoport Academy Public School’s Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) program will complete a fabrication lab, create an outdoor classroom with raised flower beds and picnic tables, and renovate the school’s food truck all to create an engaging outdoor learning experience focusing on sustainability and entrepreneurship.

This year’s Lowe’s Hometowns projects were selected from 94 communities across 41 states and Washington, D.C., and will address needs specific to each community from housing and community centers to outdoor spaces and facilities for first responders and veterans.

Each project will receive a grant from Lowe’s to make physical improvements that help local organizations continue to make a meaningful impact in their communities. At the core of this commitment are Lowe’s Red Vest associates, who share a passion for giving back to their communities and provide support to every Lowe’s Hometowns project.

Now in the second year of the initiative, Lowe’s Hometowns invites nonprofits and community members to share stories of projects in need. Lowe’s is partnering with Rapoport Academy, local Lowe’s associates, construction pros, and impact partner Points of Light to complete this project.

The Magnolia Foundation was instrumental in nominating Rapoport Academy for this grant. The foundation coordinator Justin Rosolino said supporting students interested in trades and engineering made the school a natural fit for them to endorse.

“When we heard our friends at Lowe’s were considering local partners for their Lowe’s Hometown program, we immediately thought of Rapoport Academy and Triple Win,” Rosolino said. “I’ve been a fan of Triple Win ever since learning about the program. Waco, like a lot of cities, has a real need for more skilled trade workers, and I think Triple Win will continue to play a big role in meeting that need. And now, with Lowe’s help, it can be even more of a success! Magnolia is thrilled for Rapoport Academy and grateful for Lowe’s!”
